Law - Sriram Results 2018

While Sriram Law Academy has entered its 15th year of training for All India Entrance Exams leading to Law Schools, the results of exams such as CLAT, AILET, SET and others have just been declared. This year too, SRIRAM students have fared exceptionally well in these entrance tests and are in the process of joining the law schools of repute.

In the past many years, CLAT authorities had published merit cum allotment list on their website for the knowledge of the public. However, this year the CLAT authorities have not so far published the same. We would publish the photo and details of each of our successful students, as and when it is published in the CLAT Website.

The SRIRAM team interacted with its students after the results. Published below are the feedback shared by the toppers, which we are very sure, will inspire students preparing for the 2019-20 exams. Though there are hundreds of successful students who have made it to various National Law Universities, we have presented below the interviews of a few students who form the crème de la crème.

Jwalika Balaji, a student of Vani Vani School, Chennai, signed with SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY’s one-year program in June 2017. She has obtained a top rank in CLAT 2018 and has secured admission in National Law School, Bangalore. Here’s the excerpts of her interview with the Sriram Team.

SLA: You have achieved a top rank in CLAT 2018.  How does it feel?

Jwalika: It feels surreal. It hasn’t sunk in yet that I will be studying at NLSIU, the premier law school of the country. I was always determined to study only there and it’s a wonderful feeling to have realized my dream.

SLA: What / who inspired you to consider law as a career option?
Jwalika: I was sure that I did not want to do science in my twelfth grade and so I picked the commerce stream. I gravitated towards fields such as journalism, literature and the general field of arts. I wanted my career to involve a lot of speaking and interacting with a lot of people, a general continuity of learning and service to others. Someone suggested law as an option and it just clicked. I took up my first mock test and it was the most enjoyable exam I had ever written in my life. I especially loved the legal section. It became clearer to me that law was something that I had an aptitude for. Once I started attending classes at SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY, Hema ma’am’s legal classes made it absolutely clear that law was my passion. So, this decision has been influenced by several factors which culminated in my choosing law with firm conviction as a career option.

SLA: When did you start preparing for CLAT 2018?
Jwalika: I signed up for the SRIRAM POWER batch, which is a one-year classroom program. I started my prep in the month of June 2017 and by October, I had worked out all the previous year papers, SRIRAM modules and had started making notes for GK. After that, my CLAT prep was consistent barring the two months preceding my board exams. I would say my prep in the month of April 2018 was the deciding factor, as I studied for nearly 12-14 hours every day.

SLA: Describe the role played by Sriram Law Academy in your success.
Jwalika: SRIRAM Law Academy played an integral part in my journey. Right from the comprehensive books which focus on the most important aspects of the 5 sections of the exam to the fantastic faculty who manage to spur you on to do exceedingly well to the mocks that really gave an accurate feel of the actual CLAT exam, SRIRAM ticked all the boxes. I found Hema ma’am’s advice invaluable and the one-on-one sessions with her to work out strategies and analyse my strengths and weaknesses were, in particular, extremely helpful.

SLA: GK is a vast area.  Given that you had to work on both Current Affairs and Static GK, how did you go about it?
Jwalika: For static GK, I depended on the A-Z book by SRIRAM. I felt that it was extremely useful and contained a lot of relevant information without being too vast or immaterial. As for the current affairs part of it, I made notes from gktoday and affairscloud. The SRIRAM newsletters also highlighted a lot of important events and it was interesting the way the newsletters and the online websites complemented each other. Towards the end, I had categorized all my data and prepared a fresh set of notes. I had around 8 notebooks covering topics such as national, international, sports, science and defence, environment and the economy, persons, awards and appointments and states. I found this incredibly helpful because in the end, before each mock, I used to revise my notes alone and didn’t have to be immersed in a sea of GK, as it can be a bit over-whelming at times.

Good luck and I hope to see you at NLSIU Bangalore next year, Jwalika Balaji.

Manav Sridharan, a student of Bhavans, Chennai, signed with SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY’s one-year program in June 2017. He has secured a top rank in CLAT 2018 and has secured admission in National Law School, Bangalore. Here’s the excerpts of his interview with the Sriram Team:

SLA: You have achieved a top rank in CLAT 2018.  How does it feel?
Manav: It feels amazing. All the hard work and hours of preparation I put in has finally come to fruition. It is great to make it to the premier law institute in the country.

SLA: When did you start preparing for CLAT 2018?

Manav: I joined Sriram Law Academy in August 2017. I continued my preparation at a moderate pace until the end of my boards. After that, I accelerated my CLAT preparation. Constant preparation prior to the month of April made my revision period very relaxing and useful

SLA: Describe the role played by Sriram Law Academy in your success.
Manav: I would go so far as to say without Sriram, I may not have succeeded. The Study material is vast. The faculty is very motivating, friendly and pushed me towards succeeding in CLAT without pressurizing me. No doubt is left unanswered. The GK material provided by Sriram Law Academy, especially for Current Affairs, was extensive and very accurate. The mocks were invaluable in assessing my current preparation level. And about guidance, Hema ma’am’s advice and encouragement was extremely useful. For Static GK, I referred the Sriram module, weekly tests and mocks. The Sriram newsletter and the Current affairs supplement, Competition Success Review magazine and quizzes from websites like GK Today were my sources for Current Affairs.

SLA: Would you like to share some tips with our students who are gearing up for the 2019 examination?
Manav: The only thing that is constant in CLAT is change, and this year’s exam was a testament to this. CLAT requires smart planning and execution. Even though the subjects are pretty basic, none of them are to be taken lightly. Plan ahead. GK requires constant preparation. Other subjects can be categorized and studied at different times. On the day of your exam, just stay calm, believe in yourself and enjoy the experience. And most importantly, enjoy your preparation. When you finally succeed in CLAT, you will cherish all the hard work you put in. Wishing you all the best!

Best wishes, Manav

Karthik Subramaniam, a student of Bangalore, signed with SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY’s 2-year online program and followed it up with 1-month Crash Course in April 2018. He secured a top rank in CLAT 2018, which has led him to Nalsar Law University, Hyderabad.
Here’s the excerpts of his interview with the Sriram Team:
SLA: You have achieved a top rank in CLAT 2018.  How does it feel?

Karthik: The fact that I’ll be pursuing law at a top National University is definitely a very exciting prospect. I believe that the people whom you surround yourself with define who you become, which is why I'm delighted that I'll be able to study with the top minds of this country.

SLA: When did you start preparing for CLAT 2018?
Karthik: I signed up for Sriram’s online Achievers Course as soon as I completed my 10th boards in 2016 as I was pretty certain that I wanted to pursue law as a career. However, actual preparations towards cracking CLAT started at around May-June 2017. My preparation slowly gained momentum and I was focused only on CLAT once I completed my 12th boards. Signing up for Sriram’s Rapid course was definitely the best decision I took as it aided me in channelizing my efforts in the right direction, which eventually got me where I am now.

SLA: Describe the role played by Sriram Law Academy in your success.
Karthik: I will be eternally grateful towards Sriram Law Academy for the role it played in my journey towards cracking CLAT. The books provided by Sriram are concise and well detailed. The Legal Reasoning and Legal Awareness volumes are extremely well written and formed the basis of almost all my preparation in these areas. I would recommend all students taking up CLAT to enroll themselves in the Sriram Rapid course. The daily tests, coupled with the excellent coaching by teachers, played a very important role in my preparation. At the end of it, it is the mental state of a student that plays a crucial role in whether he/she cracks CLAT or not.

SLA: Would you like to share some tips with our students who are gearing up for the 2019 examination?
Karthik: I urge everyone to "work smart." Do not work on the same topic repeatedly. Analyse your weaknesses and try to work on them specifically. Do not get demoralized if you do not perform well in your mocks. While they are essential, they are not perfect indicators of your preparation and readiness. Continue working towards your goal of cracking CLAT  with a focused mind irrespective of what adversities you may face.
I wish you all the best! See you at NALSAR! :)
Karthik

Krishnan Unni, a student based out of Trivandrum, signed with SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY’s Rapid Course in April 2018. He secured a top rank in CLAT 2018, which has helped him to secure admission in Nalsar Law University, Hyderabad.
Here’s the excerpts of his interview with the Sriram Team:

SLA: You have achieved a top rank in CLAT 2018.  How does it feel?
Krishnan Unni: To be honest, I am absolutely stoked.  I was confident of making it but NALSAR came in as a huge surprise. I am just grateful and happy that my efforts have landed me in one of the premier law schools in the country.

SLA: Describe the role played by Sriram Law Academy in your success.
Krishnan Unni: It’s as simple as this, if I hadn’t joined SRIRAM for the rapid course I wouldn’t have made it because when I started preparing, I was all at sea. The portions I had to cover were vast and immense. However, the proper guidance of the faculty at Sriram, the lucid study material, the exhaustive Sriram newsletter and the online mocks really helped me correct my mistakes and ameliorate.

SLA: How did you manage to tackle negative marking in CLAT?
Krishnan Unni: This was one area that gave me a lot of tribulations because I was always afraid to attempt questions especially those in legal and GK. Hema maam’s advice really helped me tackle the issue.  She made me realise that refraining from attempting questions was never going to help me score. She asked me to narrow down the choices and then logically guess.  I started doing this for the mocks at SRIRAM and my scores improved gradually and ultimately it helped me a lot in the actual CLAT exam.

SLA: GK is a vast area.  Given that you had to work on both Current Affairs and Static GK, how did you go about it?

Krishnan Unni: Personally, GK was my toughest section.  For static GK, I depended mainly on the Sriram GK module. Towards the end, I used to do quizzes on random topics. I also used ‘MANORAMA YEARBOOK’ for reference. Reading newspapers is imperative for coping up with current affairs. The Sriram newsletter is very helpful as it presents everything in a nutshell. I used to regularly update myself with ‘AFFAIRS CLOUD’. Magazines like ‘CSR’ are also helpful. One important thing that I understood while dealing with current affairs is to clearly demarcate between what’s important and what is not, otherwise you will end up losing a lot of precious time on things that hardly matter!
ALL THE BEST! Give it your best shot and maybe we can meet in NALSAR someday.

Philip Ashok Alex, a student based out of Trivandrum, signed with SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY’s Rapid Course in April 2018. He secured a top rank in CLAT 2018, which has led him to National Law University, Jodhpur.
Here’s the excerpts of his interview with the Sriram Team:

SLA: You have achieved a top rank in CLAT 2018.  How does it feel?

Philip: It always feels good when you are able to achieve something for which you have worked hard. CLAT and AILET were two such experiences which almost seemed impossible for me without the help and support of my friends, teachers and parents.

SLA: What / who inspired you to consider law as a career option?
Philip: As a child, I always found it important to have a rational outlook on things happening around me. When I grew older, I found that law would be the profession that suits my mindset.

SLA: Describe the role played by Sriram Law Academy in your success.
Philip: The comprehensive and lucid study material offered by Sriram and the experienced faculty which made learning seamless attributed to my success in CLAT. Hema ma’am s modules for Legal Reasoning and Knowledge were an indispensable part of my CLAT and AILET preps. Sriram’s Rapid Course was an amazing experience because of their immense support and also the dedicated help we received which motivated us to be the best of what we can.

SLA: GK is a vast area.  Given that you had to work on both Current Affairs and Static GK,   how did you go about it?
Philip: Sriram’s GK modules were my go-to material when it came to Static GK. A periodic revision with the help of online quizzes does make a lot of difference. Current Affairs, if dealt on a daily basis will help us in the long run. Reading Newspapers daily and referring to Online Portals for a weekly or monthly round-up is something which I would suggest.

Best wishes, Philip Ashok Alex

Ankush Unni, a student of Bhavans, Chennai, signed with SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY’s coaching program. He secured a top rank in CLAT 2018, which has led him to Nalsar, Hyderabad.
Here’s the excerpts of his interview with the Sriram Team:

SLA: You have achieved a top rank in CLAT 2018.  How does it feel?
Ankush: Well, it certainly feels great that all the hard work I had put in throughout the year has paid off. Considering how unpredictable CLAT is, I was not sure about the outcome of this exam, so I did not keep my hopes up too high. However, seeing that I have managed to score a good rank and get admission into one of the best law colleges in the country is certainly great news to me.

SLA: Describe the role played by Sriram Law Academy in your success.

Ankush: Sriram Law Academy has played a role of paramount importance during my preparation for CLAT. This is because the classroom sessions I had with Sriram helped with my basics such that Legal and Logic were never a problem for me. The mock tests were extremely helpful in identifying my strong and weak sections throughout and the support that Sriram Law Academy certainly made the process of applying for law schools easier. In conclusion, it is safe to say that I would not have scored a top rank without the backing of Sriram Law Academy.

SLA: GK is a vast area.  Given that you had to work on both Current Affairs and Static GK, how did you go about it?
Ankush: A CLAT aspirant must invest the most time in the GK section for two reasons: The vastness and the number of marks it is worth. I focussed mostly on Current Affairs and I primarily used GkToday and I revised using Sriram’s Newsletter. The key for Current Affairs is to look beyond just the headline, but to understand every aspect of everything relevant that happened in the year. Make sure you physically note down the news, because this will help the matter stay in your mind a lot longer than if you would simply read them. Coming to Static GK, I used Sriram’s A to Z GK book to learn about the topics that are most likely to be asked.

SLA: Would you like to share some tips with our students who are gearing up for the 2019 examination?

Ankush: I would like to say that CLAT not only tests you on your preparation, but it is also a test of how you fair under pressure. The key for cracking CLAT is not to succumb to the pressure or the difficulty of a certain section, because these can ruin your entire paper. If one section is difficult, it does not mean that the entire paper is necessarily difficult. I also suggest doing mocks nearly every day during the month of April. Analyse these mocks and correct your mistakes. Further, do not get disheartened if you score too little for a mock and do not get overconfident if you score high for a mock. Your mocks are for self-analysis and not a deciding factor for your performance in CLAT. Also, don’t spend 18 hours daily for CLAT. Take some breaks, go out and have fun. Make sure your mind is clear because this would make it easier to stay calm during the exam. However, do make sure that during your study time, you do not get distracted. Give 100% focus during your study time and do whatever you want during your breaks. Lastly, do not get stressed on the day of the examination. That morning would be the morning that would change your life and how stressed you are will change everything. Try to be as calm and rested as possible so that your performance is not affected negatively.
Keep a positive mind set and never give up. Ankush.

Vidushi Gupta, a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, signed with SRIRAM LAW ACADEMY’s online coaching program “Sriram Achiever 2018”. She secured a top rank in CLAT 2018.  She joins National Law School, Bangalore.
Here’s the excerpts of her interview with the Sriram Team:

SLA: You have achieved a top rank in CLAT 2018.  How does it feel?

Vidushi: It is a great feeling. It is like a dream come true for me. I had always aspired to study in one of the top National Law Universities, and now that I have finally achieved it, there is a great sense of satisfaction that all my hard work had finally paid off.

SLA: Describe the role played by Sriram Law Academy in your success.
Vidushi: SRIRAM Law Academy played a vital role in my journey to success. The well-written books, online tests and worksheets, newsletters and mocks etc. were all very helpful. I would like to thank SRIRAM for their support and guidance.

SLA: GK is a vast area.  Given that you had to work on both Current Affairs and Static GK, how did you go about it?
Vidushi: GK was that section of the CLAT paper which haunted me the most. It is really difficult as one needs to learn and retain a lot of facts. For the static part, I referred to my class 6-8 textbooks and Sriram material. For the current part, I depended on the Sriram newsletter and websites like GK Today etc.

SLA: Would you like to share some tips with our students who are gearing up for the 2019 examination?

Vidushi: I think what CLAT tests, along with your level of preparation, is your level of commitment and hard work. Also, one needs to review the mocks taken and analyze mistakes in order to do better in the weak areas. So, in addition to being consistent, regular and hard- working, one needs to always believe in oneself in order to crack CLAT.
ALL THE BEST to all future CLAT- aspirants!!!  Vidushi.

SLA: GK is a vast area.  Given that you had to work on both Current Affairs and Static GK, how did you go about it?
Rithvik: My main source of GK was the monthly compendium of Current Affairs released by SLA as well as other sources. The books provided by Sriram Law Academy for GK were wholesome and consisted of abundant information.
